Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are not all or nothing. If there are two working spouses, one can have a regular health insurance plan, and the other can have a high-deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The spouse on the HDHP can contribute to the HSA up to the single-person limit ($4150 in 2024).
